To live alone? 5 home decorating ideas

A bachelor pad is a house specially designed for single men and designed to meet their needs. The bachelor pad concept is prevalent in urban areas where people migrate to work. Typically, a bachelor pad is designed with minimal furnishings to meet the basic needs of the person occupying the space. The central idea of a bachelor pad design should be to provide a comforting indoor environment where the resident can relax and unwind.

Here are some design ideas that you can use to design a stellar bachelor pad.

To live alone? 5 home decorating ideas

Separating work and life

Today, with the idea of remote working growing in popularity, the lines between offices and homes are blurring. Also, people sometimes bring work home. In such a case, it is ideal to create a home office where you can work comfortably. You can also save space by creating a wall-mounted foldable desk. If you’re an artist, you might also consider turning part of your home into a studio.

To live alone? 5 home decorating ideas

Introspection space

Sometimes living alone can create multiple thoughts that need to be ventilated. Develop a small but fruitful and mindful area where you can meditate and focus on yourself during the day. Use colors or materials in this space that make you feel at peace. The idea should be to recover from a stressful day and balance yourself by calming down. Use design as a way to maintain control over things and yourself. Have a calming painting or any artwork that is reassuring.

To live alone? 5 home decorating ideas

Compact kitchen

Plan a compact kitchen in your bachelor pad so that preparing a meal after a hectic day at work is convenient. The more compact and organized a kitchen is, the easier it is to find cooking ingredients. You can opt for an open kitchen to give your home a flowing look. In the case of an open kitchen, consider having a breakfast counter which is a great substitute for a dining table. Your breakfast counter can also double as a bar in case you want to host a house party or invite friends over for a comforting dinner.

To live alone? 5 home decorating ideas

Passion as a design theme

Incorporate your hobbies and passion into your bachelor pad design. You can be a sports fan, have a fascination with music, be an avid reader, or even be a gamer. Use these hobbies to reflect something meaningful about your personality through your home design. Having a feature wall with posters or stickers or even wallpaper of athletes can resonate with sportsmanship. One can have a bookshelf stand like an accent wall filled with many books or have a small area with video games and consoles that become stress relievers for you. It gives you the freedom to be yourself and live with a certain vibe and energy.

Furniture and storage matter most

Living alone has its own drawbacks, one of which is the cleanliness and maintenance of the apartment. You can assign a dedicated day during the week to declutter and organize the home. From a design perspective, it is advisable to keep furniture to a minimum or have movable furniture so that it can be moved around during cleaning. It makes your organization work convenient and you can change the spatial layout as and when you want. Don’t buy excess groceries or stationery unless you have adequate storage for them.

WITH the festive season on the way, decorating homes remains the essence of any festival. Sharad Navratri, being the well-known and prolonged festival of India, commemorates this year on September 26th. With multiple preparations needed for the festival, Navratri home decorations are the key practice that takes place in every Indian household. Let’s read some ideas below to decorate your home this Navratri.

1. Use flowers

Flowers are basic decorative elements for any happy occasion. The delicacy and purity of a flower make them ideal and special for use in prayers and home decorations. The flowers inhibit aromatic therapeutic properties, which help remove odors from the air and create a fresh environment in the house. They add color to the area in which they are placed. They have properties that stimulate our emotions and create a relaxing environment. Therefore, don’t forget to include a flower in your home decorations this Navratri.

2. Rangolis

Each day of Navratri is associated with certain colors. The first day color is orange to honor Devi Shailputri Maa, the second day color is white to honor Devi Brahmacharini and so on. Rangoli are creative expressions of art using different vibrant colors and patterns. They are a perfect way to decorate your home and are believed to bring good luck and wealth to Indian culture.

3. Diyas

Vaastu Shastra considers a diya to be very auspicious. You can use a diyas as a decorative material in your house to light up the mood and aura of your party house. Painted colorful diyas are the most used ornamental decorative items in India. Simple terracotta diyas can brighten up and embellish the Navratri decoration of your home.

4. Fairy lights

String lights can be used to decorate your home this Navratri. String lights can do wonders in illuminating the walls of your home and beautifying the entrance to your home. You can use them as lanterns by putting them in glass jars. You can also create a chandelier using these lights to illuminate your Navratri mandir.

5. DIY candles

Candles are known for their ability to create a peaceful ambiance. The minimal light and aroma that comes from scented candles creates a serene environment. You can place the scented candles in different places in your home.

6. Garlands and Torans

The torans are wall hangings that are used to decorate the entrances of the house. Beautiful door hangings are of particular importance as decorative accessories. You can make torans with marigolds and mango leaves.

Refresh the aesthetics of your home.

Grab a pumpkin-spiced latte and get out your sweaters: fall is officially (and finally) here. It’s time for cooler weather, falling leaves and football – and if you ask the interior design professionals, change the decor of your home too. Have you refreshed the aesthetics of your home since the start of the season? Otherwise, read on for 10 pro-approved ways to do it.

Go natural.

Bringing in natural produce — especially ones you’ve harvested or grown yourself — is a great way to ring in the fall. As Lee Crowder, national director of design and model experience at homebuilder Taylor Morrison, explains, “I love decorating with natural products. Some of my favorites are pumpkins and potted plants, which last long into the fall. Try decorating your home’s entryway or dining room tablescape with natural pumpkins, which you can then compost when you’re done and add to your garden soil. Crowder recommends buying green and white pumpkins — both for a trendy pop and to stay in shape. “Greens and whites are incredibly trendy, and I associate them with potato vine and ferns,” she says. “They will last until December.”

Let there be light.

In the fall, the days get shorter and natural light begins to wane, making it the perfect time to change up your lighting, both indoors and out. “With natural light disappearing earlier in the fall months, it’s nice to bring in dim lighting to draw people into a space and help it feel cozy,” says Amber Dunford, style director at Overstock.com. “String lighting transitions well from dusk to night and sets the right mood for a gathering space. Lanterns and candles can also be a good way to bring in a source of light, and they provide a warm flicker where humans are instinctively drawn to it. Don’t forget the porch. According to Crowder, this can be a great place to add lighting and a bit of extra punch. “I love pairing pumpkins on my porch with large open lanterns “, says Crowder. “Instead of having candles, try a solar-powered or battery-powered candle. It gives you a great flickering candle aesthetic, but lights automatically and is heat resistant, so you don’t even have to think about it.

Change your textures and fabrics.

Summer is all about light and airy fabrics, and your decor should reflect that. As you enter the cooler seasons, the pros say it’s time for a warmer, cozier touch. “Emphasize chunky blankets and other heavier down items,” says Diana Hathaway, interior designer at Diana Hathaway Home. “Stuffed pillows, fluffy blankets, and candles in natural textures like birch and linen are easy ways to update your home for fall.” Textured fabrics can pair particularly well with a fall aesthetic. If you’re not sure which one to choose, Farah Merhi, CEO of Inspire Me Home Decor, recommends the loop – a type of woven fabric that’s very trendy these days. “The #1 trend I see from an upholstery perspective is loop,” says Merhi, who shares her design ideas with 7.5 million followers on her Instagram account, @Inspire_Me_Home_Decor. “It can be easily incorporated into everything from accent pillows to accent chairs. I also love that this fabric is so versatile. You can make it glamorous, casual or anything in between.

Bring the outside in.

You don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to find great home decor, especially in the fall. Designers say heading to your own backyard can be a great way to find nods to the season. “An economical way to bring the fall into your home is to forage in your outdoor environment and bring some nature indoors – branches from your garden, cuttings from your trees,” says Jade. Joyner, co-founder of interior design firm Metal + Petal in Athens, Georgia. Julia Longchamps, founder of Julia Longchamps Design in Maryland, recommends taking a “nature walk” and seeing what speaks to you. “I love cutting off the color-changing branches and putting them in a beautiful vase,” says Longchamps. “Dried hydrangeas and grass are great because they bring warm browns into your home and will stay that way forever – all at no cost to you.”

Warm up your color scheme.

Cool blues and bright whites might work in the summer, but they definitely don’t go with the fall. According to Chloe Hughes, editor of design magazine Foter, this season is all about earth tones. “Add textured fabrics such as blankets or pillows in rich colors like brown, red or orange,” says Hughes. “Another approach is to focus on natural materials and a neutral color palette with an accent fall color. This can be achieved by incorporating pieces of wood, stone, or other organic materials, then perhaps consider painting a feature wall that reflects fall colors, such as dark red or orange. It creates a focal point in your room and adds seasonal color to your space.

Get ready for outdoor entertaining.

As the weather gets colder, you might be planning a get-together in your backyard — maybe a movie night on the projector or a barbecue with your neighbors. Whatever the plan, you can set the scene with a few well-placed cozy touches. “To make the most of your outdoor spaces just before a cold winter season, pull out some fluffy blankets and warm decorative pillows for lounging in the open air,” says Yasmine El Sanyoura, interior designer for Opendoor. “If you’re looking to make the space cozier, hang some string lights and add a few lanterns to warm up the space. If your budget allows, I recommend adding a portable fire pit as a way to search for a little more time. outside.

Paint your front door.

One eye-catching way to change up your color palette is to paint your front door. “When family and friends visit your home for holiday gatherings, the front door is their first impression,” says Paula Blankenship, Founder and President of Heirloom Traditions Paint. “Having a pop of color can leave a lasting impression and can wow your guests as they walk into your home.” When it comes to hues, earth tones are always a smart choice in the fall, or choose something with a little more contrast. “My gut instinct is for dark green because of its contrast to how the leaves change with the season,” says Jessica Harris, Production Design Manager at Living Spaces Furniture. “I also feel connected to brown, either a paint treatment or stain to add warmth and earth. Both colors add depth and mood. They also both act as a great neutral and can be layered with a wreath or greenery.

Create layers.

Layering is another great way to make a space cozier, especially when the weather turns cold. This can mean layering blankets on your bed, making sure to mix fabrics, textures and hues, or layering throw pillows and other accents on your sofa, chair or window seat. According to Joyner, you can even look down to the ground for opportunities. “I layer my rugs, which creates a lot of depth and warmth in my space,” she says.

Change your table decor.

Creating a new nature-inspired centerpiece is one strategy for bringing your kitchen into the fall. For this, dried flowers can be an option. “It’s a perfect way to add a natural element to your home without breaking the bank,” says Joyner. “These low-maintenance flower arrangements are perfect if you have a garden with seasonal blooms. Once it’s time to prune, pick your flowers of choice and prepare to dry them. If you prefer to skip the drying process yourself, you can buy pre-dried flowers from your local florist. You can also buy fall-themed wrapping paper to update your tablescape. Crowder recommends cutting it and use it as table runners or placemats.”Using something like wrapping paper or wallpaper allows for a little more flexibility and creativity,” says Crowder. use, and if it goes bad or someone spills it, you can add a little more and it’s not something you have to store or even love forever.”

Update your gallery wall.

If you have a gallery wall, a new season is the perfect time to update it. You can add new family photos (maybe from that Thanksgiving football game last year) or update them with seasonal artwork. “Instead of keeping the static photos which are more traditional, maybe you can switch up the art in the frames with a fun Halloween or fall print or some fun mementos from past holidays,” Crowder says. If you’re on a budget, you can look to thrift stores for affordable art. Wallpaper and wrapping paper are also options, and El Sanyoura says you can even download prints from the web to hang. “Find downloadable artwork with rich earth tones to replace the art you already have framed in your home,” she says. “Earth tones are warm and inviting, making them perfect when temperatures drop.”

Here are 10 fall decorating ideas from the pros:

– Be natural.

– Let there be light.

— Change your textures and fabrics.

— Bring in the outside.

— Warm up your color scheme.

– Prepare for outdoor entertaining.

— Paint your front door.

— Create layers.

— Change your table setting.

I’ll just say it: a lot of fall decorations are overdone and boring. That’s not to say that a giant ceramic pot that reads “Halloween Candy” or a tea towel with some sort of turkey pun on it isn’t fun and awesome (because it is). But if you’re craving new decorating ideas for fall, we’ve got you covered.

Believe it or not, there are plenty of home decor details that scream fall, but in a timeless, whispery way. I understood? Luckily, all of your favorite home decor retailers, from West Elm to Nordstrom and Society6, are on the same fall aesthetic page.

Basically, you add a shot of espresso to your pumpkin spice latte! It’s still the same, but with a little more sparkle. So instead of filling a vase with bright orange plastic oak leaves, install an oil diffuser filled with dry fall flowers. Obviously you still need pumpkins, but swap out this set of simple pumpkins for a gorgeous glass pumpkin.

I’ll just say it: a lot of fall decorations are overdone and boring. That’s not to say that a giant ceramic pot that reads “Halloween Candy” or a tea towel with some kind of turkey pun on it isn’t fun or awesome (because they are).

Keep scrolling to shop the best non-basic fall decorating ideas that are anything but boring.

Have you ever thought that the only things standing between you and a delightfully decorated apartment are the lack of a huge budget and the threat of losing your security deposit? It’s true that you could send your landlord into a bind with too many nail holes in the wall. But that doesn’t mean you have to settle for living in a dull apartment with even duller walls just because you’re not allowed to paint them.

” To show creativity [with] decorating a rental home or apartment can be tricky,” says Sarah Cooper, interior designer and studio manager for Atlanta-based Ashton Woods Homes, an award-winning luxury home builder. “After all, every item must be removable and cannot prevent you from receiving a full security deposit.”

Luckily, there are plenty of budget-friendly ways to put your own stamp on the place with accents and décor that can be easily removed when it’s time to move. We reached out to Cooper and several other interior design experts to get their thoughts on ways to improve your apartment rental. The best part? Everything here is $40 or less, and none of them should bother your landlord.

We may receive a portion of sales if you purchase a product through a link in this article.

Add texture and layers with rugs

“A great option for adding style to your apartment is to use area rugs to add a layer of depth to your room,” says Forrest McCall, co-owner of home improvement blog, Mama Needs a Project. “If you have hardwood floors, adding an area rug can help limit the ‘harshness’ of your space and also reduce noise.”

Besides the comfortable feel of the rug underfoot, McCall says you can choose colors and patterns to make your space “unique and special.” Here are a few that look premium but won’t break the bank.

For an overview: “These are very soft and just beautiful. A nice surprise as the cost wasn’t bad at all and they are washable which is great since we gave away pets. Definitely recommend.

For an overview: “The softest blanket ever.”

Upgrade kitchen cabinets with new hardware

“With holes already drilled in your cupboards, [you can make] a statement with fun colored pulls or simple stylish pulls,” says Cooper. It’s a DIY project you can complete in a day, she says – just be sure to keep the original hardware so you can replace it before you move.

For an overview: “I absolutely loved the look of these drawer pulls when installed BC [because] they had a nice clean look that is classy but not garish.

Add color with plants and flowers

“Using plants as space fillers is another great way to make a space feel cooler without using large objects,” says Rachel Robarge, design manager at June Homes, an apartment rental company.

No worries if you don’t have a green thumb. Here are some fake versions that will add “life” to your space.

For an overview: “I basically took this plant out of the box and dropped it straight into the basket,” said one 5-star reviewer on Amazon. “I separated some of the stems to get the look I wanted and that was it. Great faux plant!”

Decorate the walls

Some landlords will let you paint the walls, but if you do, you’ll probably have to change them back to their neutral color when you move. Make your life and the walls themselves easier with peel and stick wallpaper. When it’s time to remove, follow the manufacturer’s directions carefully so as not to damage the walls – a little heat from a hair dryer might do the trick to loosen the adhesive.

For an overview: “I get so many compliments on how beautiful this look is! People can’t believe it’s wallpaper!

Raise the stakes – or just your curtain rods

“An instant way to make your space feel more luxurious without making any structural changes is to lift your curtains,” says Jessica Harris, Production Design Manager at Living Spaces. “It’s a common misconception that curtains should hang directly from the window frame. Hang your curtains about a foot above the window frame to create the illusion of a high, raised ceiling. Harris advises hemming longer curtains if necessary so they don’t flood below the window.

You can also try this trick in the bathroom with your shower curtain, says Harris. Simply hang the tension rod a little higher and your bathroom will instantly look like it has a higher ceiling.

For an overview: “I like the simple design and it was easy to install. Able to hold curtains a bit heavier than I expected.

In the bathroom, hang the tension rod wherever you want and slide over a hookless shower curtain to easily achieve the desired length.

Consider your space

A well-placed mirror not only makes it easy to check your reflection, but it also reflects off your space to make it look bigger.

Robarge recommends leaning full-length mirrors against a wall so you don’t have to worry about damaging the wall. If you want something on the wall, here are some lightweight mirrors that double as decoration.

For an overview: “They were cheap enough that if they didn’t work I wouldn’t be upset at the money spent. They ended up being beautiful anyway! They really helped bring together some of the wall space that I didn’t know what to do with.

Shedding light on the situation

The light fixtures installed may be minimal in your rental, and it may be difficult to add more even if you get the landlord’s approval.

“Instead of hanging light fixtures in your space, which can be heavy and difficult to remove, try using different light sources to create an intimate feel,” says Robarge.

Here are some lamps that are easy to place or install, without taking up too much space.

For an overview: “Simple setup, looks great. Worth the price.”

Simplify the shelves

You might think you’re relegated to bulky bookcases to store books, decor, and more in an apartment. But with easy-to-hang floating shelves, you can free up floor space and your conscience since you’re not damaging the walls.

For an overview: “Love!!!! Works like a charm!”

Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most famous festivals in Maharashtra and Karnataka, dedicated to Lord Ganesha. This year Ganesh Chaturthi is on August 31 and the following 10 feast days will be celebrated with fervor. The Ganesh festival is synonymous with dynamism, happiness, Bappa prayer and food.

Ganesh Chaturthi: 5 simple home decorations

If you invite the idol of Lord Ganesha home for the festival, it can be an exciting but exhausting job. Cleaning the house, making prasad, entertaining guests, making sure the idol is worshiped properly and the house is decorated in the spirit of the festival.

Here are some of the simple ideas that you can use to decorate your home for Ganesh Chaturthi.

Ganesh Chaturthi: 5 simple home decorations

floral decor

Flowers are the most popular way to decorate the house for festivals. Use roses, marigolds, lilies and carnations to create garlands. You can create canopies and tapestries by trying out different combinations of flower colors and textures. Set up a golden, brown or beige drape as a background for a layer of beautiful floral decorations.

Bring the Light

Illuminate your inner Ganpati pandal with different types of lights such as pendant lights and focus lights. You can also use string lights to run along the surface of the wall as the perfect background for these festive pictures. You can paint earthen pots and hang them as lamps to add a touch of warmth and comfort to your Ganpati decor.

Ganesh Chaturthi: 5 simple home decorations

Use of Origami

You can decorate your house for the festival without any perishable items by using artificial paper and plastic products. Origami is an art form that can turn paper into beautiful decorative objects by bending and twisting it. Use brightly colored papers to replicate mythical elements to give the decor a religious vibe.

Decorate diyas and candles

Diyas are oil lamps made of clay or mud. You can decorate diyas using DIY (DIY) ideas for painting. You can use poster colors to paint and create patterns on the diya. Using a bit of glitter can also help add to the flamboyance of the festival. Homemade scented candles can also help brighten up the space.

Ganesh Chaturthi: 5 simple home decorations

rangoli

Rangoli is an auspicious art form of drawing beautiful patterns on the ground using powdered color or colored sand. You can also create a rangoli using different types of flowers. You can prepare a rangoli in front of the idol to mark auspiciousness. Indians also usually draw a rangoli at the entrance of the house to welcome happiness and prosperity.

Take advantage of these festive decoration ideas to invite positivity into your home.

Happy Ganesh Chaturthi!
