7 interior decorating ideas that can give your home a new and refreshed look

We all like to live in a space we can call our own, a space that we have built and decorated on our own and with the world in lockdown we have spent a lot more time within the confines of our homes. It’s only linear that your home starts to look boring or quirky over time, as it’s been a while since you’ve refreshed it. While it’s impossible to redo the whole house every time you’re bored, a few changes here and there can be helpful in freshening up the look and making you feel like you’re living in a new but old place.

With years of experience in interior design, Ms. Aatika Manzar, Founding Director of Aatika Manzar Designs, has picked out some helpful tips that are super easy, creative, and can give your home the makeover it needs. So let’s see what can be done at home.

Add a touch of greenery

Gone are the days when plants were a thing for the garden or the balcony. Houseplants have been causing a stir in the market and hopping on the wagon would be recommended. Get houseplants like succulents and silver plants that can add much-needed brightness and freshness. If you don’t want to bother watering them, you can always go for the artificial ones. Indoor plants add freshness and lots of greenery to your bedrooms, living rooms, and even living rooms.

Experiment with wallpapers

Repainting the whole house is a tedious and expensive process and therefore it is suggested to refrain from it unless absolutely necessary. There are great wallpapers available in different designs, from floral prints to geometric patterns. They are relatively cheaper, so fairly easy to replace if you get bored. You can explore and experiment with wallpapers and these colorful sheets will completely change the look of your rooms in a jiffy.

Go for light tones

Using the same old linens can get trite and dull, brightening things up a bit with some bright colors. Buy a few colorful sheets or pillow covers and add color and texture to your bedroom.

Add a personal touch

Your home needs your reflection and what better than a few DIY decorations to add a personal touch? You can choose a wall in the common room or your bedroom and add family photos lit with fairy lights and cute notes.

Say hello to a beanbag

Adding an ottoman to create a cozy nook for reading a book by the window with a cup of coffee could be a nice addition. Poufs add a lot of comfort to any space in your home as they have a very relaxed vibe. Try to buy a brightly colored ottoman to make a statement.

Bring home rugs

Rugs add warmth to every space, whether it’s a bedroom, living room, bathroom, or even the balcony. Rugs in different shapes / sizes can be very refreshing and fun, they also make the room very comfortable and inviting.

Decorate with sheer curtains

Adding curtains is a great way to get in the natural light while maintaining your privacy. Double layer curtains can be put in place to maintain the required light intensity as they look very light and airy and yet beautiful.

Changing the look of your home isn’t a very daunting task if you do it right. A few changes can make a huge difference and I hope some of the pointers here help you make that difference.
